We have some more exciting news regarding our lovely dancer, Chelsea. Not only has she been invited to Finals Week at the Australian Ballet School, following her attendance at the Royal Ballet Spring Intensive in Hong Kong earlier this year, she has been added to the Royal Ballet School International Scholars website!
When asked how we felt, as a studio, about having her named, we responded:
‘It is an absolute honour that one of our students from Newcastle Dance Academy has been chosen as an International Scholar of The Royal Ballet School. We believe this is a wonderful reward for all of Chelsea’s hard work and dedication. We look forward to being part of this amazing opportunity and dance journey, sharing the love of this beautiful art form with her, supporting her and her dreams.’
If you aren’t familiar with the International Scholars Programme is one that identifies extraordinary talent and aptitude in young ballet students that live outside of the United Kingdom. The selection process is by private invitation only, and done by the School’s Artistic Director. International Students not already training at major international vocational schools, but who have an outstanding potential for classical ballet are considered, with limited places available in each academic year.
The major advantage of being part of this programme is having the ability to train and to be seen frequently by The Royal Ballet School, whilst still living at home and continuing to train with your current dance teacher. Scholars also have the freedom to undertake other dance-related events and activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Chelsea to further her dance education and training with a most prestigious international school. We are incredibly proud of all her hard work, and delight in the recognition she’s receiving for her efforts. It is certainly well-deserved.
Chelsea will be leaving for a week, beginning August 12th, for Finals Week at The Australian Ballet School and we wish her all the best. We know that the sky is the limit for her as she continues to learn and grow as a dancer.
At Newcastle Dance Academy, we love watching all our students succeed and achieve great things!
